Tom Leek Bio:

Representing coastal Volusia County and the World’s Most Famous Beach, Rep. Tom Leek is a home-grown product raised in Ormond Beach. Rep. Leek is a proud graduate of Seabreeze High School and later the University of Central Florida and Stetson University College of Law.

Prior to starting law school, Rep. Leek served as Legislative Aide to the Honorable William Sublette in the Florida House of Representatives.  After law school, Rep. Leek returned home to begin a 20+ year law career where he was President and Managing Partner of his firm. Rep. Leek is now Chief Legal Officer and Executive Vice President for Foundation Risk Partners Corp., a national independent insurance brokerage firm headquartered in Daytona Beach.  Rep. Leek is a Martindale-Hubbell rated AV Preeminent Lawyer, and was named as one of Florida’s Legal Elite by Florida Trend Magazine.

Currently in the Legislature, Rep. Leek is Chairman of the Redistricting Committee. In previous years he served as Chairman of the Pandemics and Public Emergencies Committee, the Public Integrity and Ethics Committee and the Select Subcommittee and Member Conduct. In 2019 he was appointed to the Public Service Commission Nominating Committee by the Speaker of the House. At the request of the Speaker of the House, he also serves on the House Leadership Team. In 2020, in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, Rep. Leek was asked by Governor DeSantis to serve on the Re-Open Florida Task Force to develop a plan for the re-opening of the state after the pandemic.

For his legislative service, Rep. Leek was given the 2017 & 2019 Distinguished Advocate award from the Florida Chamber of Commerce, the Champion for Business award from the Associated Industries of Florida, 2018 Legislator of the Year from Florida Associated Builders and Contractors. He has also been awarded the President’s “A” Honor Roll from the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida, the Champion of Housing Award from Florida Homebuilders Association, Pace Center for Girls Legislator of the Year and FAAST Legislator of the Year. In 2020 he received the Legislative Leadership Award by the Trial Lawyers Section of The Florida Bar and 2021 he was awarded the Golden Eagle award from the Boy Scouts of American Central Florida Council.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Rep. Leek has served as chair or president of numerous civic organizations, including the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement of Volusia County, the Downtown Business and Professional Association, and many more. He is the 2021 recipient of the Daytona Regional Chamber Marvin Samuels Memorial Leadership Award.

Rep. Leek is an avid fisherman, boater, and college football fan.  However, his most valued activity is spending time with his wife, Michelle, two daughters, Alex and Sarah and chasing the family dog, Stevie around.
